“More than anything else, the people need the money to help them recover after Typhoon Odette, which makes them wonder why the provincial government is trying to fast-track the project.
“The statement also said that the DENR has already stated that the project will impact the ecosystem of Siargao,” sabi si Nadineni, citing yung dokumento sa gagawing bridge
“No less than 144 million pesos of public funds is about to get used for a bridge-project that nobody wants…Most of the residents of this area are strongly against it.
“This bridge will destroy one of the most peaceful and greenest areas in General Luna, this area hosts major eco-luxury resorts and famous natural beach areas that are open to all. It will also destroy a great amount of protected seagrass and mangrove forests.
“The local and Provincial DENR have already passed resolutions against this project and they have recognized that it would seriously endanger the local ecosystem and protected area without providing a benefit to the public. Still they are insisting to push this project forward.
“There is already a road that goes to Union from Malinao, we don’t need another one. The DENR has said that it will impact the ecosystem there greatly…”
“She loves siargao talaga:
“How about advancement of the province?
“Have you been to Siargao? There are many other ways for growth without disrupting a habitat.”
“Then it will be just another Boracay. Maganda na siya as is”
“Advancement? Construction does not always equate to advancement. And also, advancement at what cost? The ecosystem that makes the area beautiful and attractive to tourists. Isa pa, hindi ka taga diyan. Tanungin mo muna sila kung gusto nila yang ‘advancement’ niyo.
“Actually ang daming proposals na projects for siargao but local government and locals ayaw talaga. It has advantages and disadvantages obviously.
“The province can advance without destroying the ecosystem. People who think like you are the reason why this planet is being destroyed.”
No. There are better ways to build infrastructure while also conserving the environment kung gugustuhin nila.”
“I agree! Leave Siargao alone. It’s peaceful, serene, calm as it is.”
I’m starting to like her.”
“A bridge can be built without destroying the ecosystem and marine life. Only it will be an eyesore. What is the purpose of the bridge anyway?”
Tanong naman ng isang netizen: “Theyre building a farm to market bridge that will advanced the way of life of the people in the province. So save the beach how about the people’s livelihood?”
