The Bureau of Customs Project Management Unit (BOC-PMU), led by Dona Bolea, and the World Bank visited the Manila International Container Port (MICP) for the Philippine Customs Modernization Project.
Alexandre Hugo Laure represented the World Bank while lawyer Marlon Agaceta, Deputy Collector for Administration, welcomed the guests.
Meanwhile, Florante Ricarte, Deputy Collector for Assessment, discussed the clearance procedures of consumption entries.
The project aims to improve the operational efficiency of the Bureau while lessening trade costs. The initiative will also strengthen the economic state of the nation.
The team also had a walk-through at the Customer Care Center to inspect the processing of documents at the Port.
Darren James Saligue and Jose Antonio Lacson facilitated the site visit of MICP facilities and a run-through of the International Container Terminal Services Inc. (ICTSI) processes to conclude the tour.
Aligned with the directives of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., the MICP commits to continuously improve its services and perform the mandates of the BOC of enhancing trade facilitation, protecting national borders, and collecting lawful revenues under the leadership of Commissioner Yogi Filemon Ruiz.
