ALL over Metro Manila, only in Manila can one find the worst violator of laws.
The filing of certificates of candidacy (COC) is yet to begin on October 1 while the campaign period is yet to start next year and yet, in Manila, campaign activities and campaign posters are already flooding the streets, not to mention the giving away of money apparently aimed at wooing votes.
I need not name who is doing this because as I have stated, only one does these violations of Comelec rules with much gusto. This guy had been going around promoting his candidacy, giving away tons of money to barangay officials, shamelessly bragging that his opponents will not be able to give away such kind of money.
In addition, the streets of Manila are littered with his campaign posters and although the word ‘vote’ is no in them, it is clear that they are campaign posters.
This guy really thinks he is above all else.
Not only did he step on the toes of his partymates when he unilaterally decided that he should be the one to run for mayor in the 2025 elections, despite the fact that Mayor Honey Lacuna and Vice Mayor Yul Servo are incumbents while he, had just come from an embarassing defeat in the 2022 polls.
Now, he is flagrantly disregarding even the rules set by the Comelec for those who intend to seek election in 2025.
This is what he’s good at. Mockery of the morals and laws that are observed by normal, law-abiding citizens.
The guy is such a violator of everything that is right and lawful, so much so that he is now even promoting gambling in the streets, just to attract audience whom he would dupe into believing that he is the answer to their prayers.
And note that each time he opens his mouth, all one would hear is how great he is, while engaging in black propaganda, directed against the very person whose family took him in as one of their own, who shaped him to become vice mayor and later as mayor, from the mud that he really is.
He claims to be confident in himself but constantly resorts to mudslinging. Considering that the subject of his attacks, Mayor Honey, is a woman, she’s got more balls than him.
Mayor Honey is facing her oppositor without having to lash back in the same, disrespectful manner. This is because her accomplishments can well speak for what she has to offer and done so far, despite the fact that her administration is operating on a shoestring budget because she inherited a staggering P17.8 billion debt.
As I have stated, Mayor Honey has proven to be ‘more man enough’ by acknowledging the debt and finding ways to pay it, even to the point of her own projects being adversely affected.
Mayor Honey’s track record is not tainted with any kind of irregularity or corruption. Most importantly, she is not the type who would leave Manilans for self-interests or ambition for higher office. In short she is not selfish.
The mayor also knows how to follow laws and rules. She is a decent woman with integrity, something lacking in her opponent.
If a candidate cannot follow simple rules related to seeking public office and even flagrantly violates them, how do we expect him to become a lawful mayor?
