Vice President Sara Duterte on Saturday personally appeared at the Quezon City Regional Trial Court Branch 98 to post bail, a day after the said court issued a warrant of arrest against her for grave threats charges.
The warrant of arrest against Duterte is in relation to three counts of grave threats filed against her and was issued after the court found probable cause to hold her for trial.
The basis of the complaint was Duterte’s online press conference in November 2024 where she said that she had ordered a person to kill President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., his wife, Liza Araneta Marcos and then-Speaker Martin Romualdez, if she herself gets killed, adding that the said person agreed and it was ‘no joke’.
The court set the bail at P120,000 for each count, or a total of P360,000.
Duterte did not undergo mugshots since her appearance before the court constituted voluntary surrender. Her camp, it was learned, supplied her photos —front view, left and right view– the same as in mugshots.
The Vice President though, underwent the other processes for booking such as finger printing.
Quezon City Police District Public Information Office chief Police Major Jennifer Gannaban meanwhile said that since Duterte voluntarily surrendered to the court, she was allowed to submit her own photographs for the booking and bail processes.
After acknowledging receipt of the documents submitted by Duterte, the court issued an order lifting the arrest warrant against her.
Meanwhile, Duterte’s legal counsels vowed to continue challenging the decision of the court with regard to the said case filed against VP Duterte.
The case was filed in August by the Department of Justice.
