Vice Mayor Yul Servo Nieto held a meeting with the technical working group of the Manila Film Festival (MMF) recently to discuss its launch during the Manila Day celebration on June 24, 2023.
Among those discussed were important matters such as timelines in MFF and submission of screenplays, as well as target dates for the review of submitted screenplays by participating schools and the screening in cinemas in Manila during the celebration of Manila Day today. year, despite the fact that no final day has been set for it.
According to Servo-Nieto, the MFF aims to inspire the people of Manila, especially young people who love cinematography to use their talents in making Filipino films to be seen in Manila in commemoration of its founding anniversary on June 24 , 2023.
“We would like to give good meaning and additional pleasure to the upcoming celebration of Manila Day, by properly reviving the Manila Film Festival.” , said Servo-Nieto who has also won many awards as an actor in the silver screen.
According to the vice-mayor, MMF is a project of him and Manila Mayor Honey Lacuna in collaboration with Artcore Productions. This was a program of former First Lady Imelda Romualdez Marcos in the early 70s but was stopped when the Metro Manila Film Festival was launched.
