Camp Lapulapu, Cebu City – Leveraging technology to enhance learning opportunities and empower communities, the Visayas Command (VISCOM) through the 3rd Civil Relations Group (3CRG) launches the pilot testing of the Mobile E-Learning Hub Project in Brgy Cabancalan, Mandaue City.
Said project is a joint undertaking of VISCOM, the Department of Education (DepEd), the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT), the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA), and the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) designed to bring accessible and high-quality educational resources especially to communities with limited access to learning facilities and digital educational technology.
The Mobile E-Learning Hub is a container van equipped with computer sets and other amenities with learning portals to give learners access to educational content and a variety of educational materials.
By utilizing technology, VISCOM seeks to empower the youth and unprivileged communities by bridging the gap in educational access. By providing students in remote areas with digital learning resources, VISCOM aims to ensure that every learner has the opportunity to thrive in today’s fast-paced world.
“Our vision is to create a future where education knows no boundaries. With the Mobile E-Learning Hub, we are breaking down barriers and bringing the world of knowledge to the fingertips of those who need it most, our underprivileged youth”, said Lieutenant General Fernando M Reyeg PA, the Commander of VISCOM.
“The pilot testing of the Mobile E-Learning Hub project represents a significant step in our holistic approach to broaden community development and security. The Mobile E-Learning Hub has the power to supplement education in our communities, thus, unlocking new opportunities for growth and development. We are committed to scaling this project to reach more areas in the region, ensuring that no learner is left behind,” Lt Gen Reyeg further emphasized.
Feedback from this pilot testing will be used to refine and optimize the Mobile E-Learning Hub Project for broader implementation across the Visayas region.
It can be recalled that the first ever Mobile E-Learning Hub in the country was launched on August 29, 2023 through a simple ceremony, graced by Vice President and Secretary of the DepEd, Hon Sara Z Duterte-Carpio at the DepEd Ecotech Center Pavilion in Sudlon, Lahug, Cebu City.
Lt Gen Reyeg concluded as he reaffirmed VISCOM’s steadfast commitment through proactive and community-centric initiatives, “As your reliable Armed Forces in the Visayas, VISCOM will remain steadfast in our commitment to sustaining peace while fostering development in the region through proactive and community-centric initiatives.”
