Personnel of the Philippine Air Force and the United States Air Force conducted a Close Quarter Combat as part of the ongoing joint military exercises COPE THUNDER 23-1 at Basa Air Base, Floridablanca, Pampanga.
According to PAF spokesperson Col. Ma. Consuelo Castillo, this is part of the Subject Matter Expert Exchange which was participated in by troops from the 544th Security Forces Squadron, 5th Fighter Wing of the Philippine Air Force, along with its US counterparts.
The purpose of this training is to teach the personnel of the Philippine Air Force and their US counterpart about the fundamental tactics, techniques, and procedures in conducting team level, structural based, dynamic close quarters room combat.
Soldiers are believed to be able to use this knowledge from such training when it comes to combat, particularly in dangerous urban warfare.
This Cope Thunder 23-1 exercise between the PH Air Force and the US Air Force began on May 1 and will last until May 12, 2023.
