Two foreign nationals were arrested by the Bureau of Immigration (BI) in a raid inside a residence in a subdivision in Brgy. Poblacion in Tuba, Benguet morning of July 27.

The two foreign nationals, identified as Wang Keping, 35, female and Khuon Moeurn, 37, male, were arrested in a joint operation conducted by the BI’s intelligence division regional intelligence unit Cordillera Administrative Region and the Presidential Anti-Organized Crime Commission (PAOCC).

BI intelligence division chief Fortunato Manahan, Jr. said that the operation stemmed from information from the PAOCC about a Chinese woman being sought in relation to their recent raid in Bamban, Tarlac.

As such, BI Commissioner Norman Tansingco issued a mission order to effect the arrest of the target Chinese woman.

However, upon arrival at the site, the target was nowhere to be found but two other foreign nationals were seen in the vicinity. After verification, it was found that Moeurn, an alleged Cambodian national, was an undocumented and overstaying alien after being unable to present his documentation.

Operatives stated that Moeurn was only able to present a photo of his supposed Cambodian passport which had a visa valid only until August 2020.

“While Wang had a working visa, she may be charged with violation of immigration laws for harboring an illegal alien,” said Manahan.

Both foreigners were arrested and will be brought to Manila for booking procedures. Physical custody of the duo will remain with the PAOCC while undergoing deportation proceedings.
