Troops of the 91st Infantry Battalion of the 7th Infantry Division under the Northern Luzon Command (NOLCOM) have executed a successful operation to rescue and provide immediate medical care to a wounded pregnant member of the Communist Terrorist Group (CTG), abandoned by her comrades following an encounter with Southern Luzon Command (SOLCOM) troops at the mountainous area of Sitio Pinamaypayan, Brgy. Umiray, Dingalan, Aurora .
Reports reaching the office of Army Commanding General Lt.Gen Roy Galido identified the pregnant CTG member as Manilyn ‘Manene’ Dela Cruz, also known as ‘Miya/Manene’, a 19-year-old member of Platoon Julian, Komiteng Larangang Guerilla – Narciso, found herself injured and vulnerable after an encounter with SOLCOM forces.
Following her rescue, alias ‘Manene’ was immediately transported to Fort Magsaysay Army Station Hospital for proper treatment. Recognizing the severity of her condition, she was referred to PJG in Cabanatuan City for further specialized care.
It is revealed that Manilyn ‘Manene’ Dela Cruz is an Indigenous Peoples (IP) member originating from the Dumagat Tribe and is currently four months pregnant with her first child. Dela Cruz carries pending warrants of arrest for grave offenses, including Arson, Attempted Murder, Direct Assault with Multiple Murder, and Frustrated Murder.
In condemnation of the CTG’s inhumane actions, Lieutenant General Fernyl G Buca PAF, Commander of the Northern Luzon Command (NOLCOM), underscores the military’s commitment to upholding the dignity and welfare of all individuals, regardless of their affiliations.
He said “The abandonment of a wounded pregnant woman by her comrades is a basic human indecency. NOLCOM unequivocally condemns such cowardly and inhumane acts perpetrated by the CTG.”
Lieutenant General Buca emphasizes the importance of respecting the rights and dignity of all individuals involved in armed conflict, affirming the NOLCOM’s steadfast mission to uphold peace, security, and the rule of law in the region. He further calls upon the remaining CTG members to surrender peacefully, assuring them of fair treatment and due process.
