CAMP AGUINALDO, Quezon City – The Armed Forces of the Philippines’ Northern Luzon Command (NOLCOM) based in Tarlac City has dismantled three guerrilla fronts of the CPP-NPA as of 4th quarter 2022 under the leadership of Lieutenant General Ernesto Torres Jr.
NOLCOM’s intensified operations led to the reduction of CPP-NPA’s manpower and firearms with 417 communist terrorists and supporters neutralized, and 163 firearms seized.
Lt. Gen. Torres presented NOLCOM’s accomplishments during the visit of AFP Chief of Staff, Lieutenant General Bartolome Vicente Bacarro last Tuesday, November 8.
The Chief of Staff lauded NOLCOM’s accomplishments against the communist terrorist group in Central and Northern Luzon.
He also commended the unit’s humanitarian assistance and disaster response operations during recent calamities that affected the northern part of the country. The most recent was Severe Tropical Storm Paeng and the 6.4 magnitude earthquake last October.
During the traditional ‘talk to troops,’ the Chief of Staff conveyed his gratitude to the Defenders of the North’s dedication to duty and strong teamwork, which were instrumental to the overall accomplishment of the AFP’s mission.
“Let us not rest on our laurels, let us continue sustaining our gains until we have achieved the total defeat of communist insurgency in our country,” Gen. Baccaro said pertaining to few CPP-NPA guerrilla front remaining. (VICTOR BALDEMOR RUIZ)
