The Philippine Army held its nationwide simultaneous run that saw the participation of thousands of runners in Fort Bonifacio, Taguig City and key Army camps nationwide yesterday March 1, 2025.
Thousands of officers, enlisted personnel as well as their dependents and civilian running enthusiasts dashed to the finish line before the crack of dawn. Runners participated in the 3-kilometer, 5-kilometer, 7-kilometer, and 10-kilometer categories with the Saluting Battery of the Army Artillery Regiment firing a ceremonial salvo to signal the release of each batch. The four running routes followed the major roads inside the Army’s main headquarters and adjacent thoroughfares.
“We manifested today that indeed the Army is founded on healthy lifestyle,” Army Chief Lt. Gen. Roy M. Galido said in his remarks, emphasizing that physical fitness is a requisite for the Army to become a “Matatag na Sandigan ng Bagong Pilipinas.”
Moreover, runners from the U.S. Army Pacific (USARPAC) and teams from the Philippine Army’s partner organizations such as Megaworld Corp. and the Union of Local Authorities of the Philippines (ULAP) participated in the run with Pocari Sweat and Mizuno as corporate sponsors. The event aims to encourage commitment to health and fitness by promoting an active lifestyle and regular physical activity. It highlights the importance of physical well-being as a key component of a strong and resilient force.
