INABSWELTO ng Manila Regional Trial Court,Branch 15 si dating Negros Oriental Representative Arnolfo Teves, Jr. at dalawang iba pa pang kasama niyabg akusado sa kasong pagpaslang sa isang Negros Oriental board member noong 2019.
Kasama ni Teves na ibinasura ang kaso ay sina Richard Cuadra at Rolando Pinili at ayon sa korte ay nabigo ang prosekusyon na ma-establish ang “prima facie case.”
Ayon sa abogado ni Teves na si Atty. Ferdinand Topacio, isang ‘harassment’ lamang umano ang isinampang kaso laban kay Teves.
“It also shows how the Department of Justice has been weaponized for the purpose of vexing the critics of government. We are fortunate, however, to have found a fair and impartial tribunal that has proven itself truly independent and impervious to political pressures,” dagdag pa ni Topacio.
Ani Topacio, marami pang giyera para maipaglaban ang katotohanan at hustisya kay Teves.
“There are many more battles left to fight for truth and justice. In this, we shall never waver until the last of these groundless suits are dismissed. For indeed, the wheels of justice grind slowly, but they grind exceedingly fine,” aniya.
Si Teves ay nahaharap din sa hiwalay na kasong murder na may kaugnayan naman sa pagpaslang noong 2023 kay dating Negros Oriental Governor Roel Degamo at siyam na iba pa.
Nagresulta ito sa pagpapatalsik kay Teves bilang miyembro ng House of Representatives, dahil na din sa pagtanggi nito na bumalik sa Pilipinas para harapin ang kanyang mga kaso.
