The City Government of Taguig categorically rejects the misleading narrative being circulated in connection with a video allegedly peddled by Senator Panfilo Lacson regarding the inspection conducted by the Office of the Ombudsman, Philippine Reclamation Authority, Land Registration Authority and Department of Public Works and Highways.
Said video showed supposed illegal reclamation activities being undertaken by the City of Taguig.
The curated footage is presented to the public alongside sweeping conclusions about “illegal reclamation” and “impunity” by someone who believes himself to be above the law.
Contrary to what Senator Lacson wants the public to believe, the area shown in the peddled video does not involve any land presently possessed and used by the City of Taguig.
The video shown involves a parcel of land claimed by several private individuals and a neighborhood association. The City of Taguig did not issue any permit or authority in favor of any of the alleged private owners.
“We strongly urge the public to exercise caution and discernment in the face of this latest claim that is factually inaccurate, misleading, and unsupported by the actual record,”the LGU said.
Taguig, it added, remains committed to the fight against graft and corruption—and to ensuring that this fight is pursued with fairness, integrity, and respect for the truth.
‘Let us stand united in the fight against graft and corruption. Let us pursue the truth, uphold the rule of law and hold accountable those who may have committed wrongdoing. But our pursuit of truth must be grounded in facts, verified evidence, and the actual record,” it said.
” We must not allow unsubstantiated claims, misleading narratives, or innuendo to undermine the very cause we seek to advance. The fight against corruption must always be a fight for truth—not a contest of accusations,” the LGU said further.
