The recent results of the self-rated survey on poverty pose a significant challenge for our government to fulfill its mandates more effectively. I acknowledge the feelings and perceptions of our people who have rated themselves as poor, said Secretary Lope B Santos of the National Anti-Poverty Commission (NAPC).
Now, more than ever, it’s crucial for all stakeholders to consider this feedback as we strive to harmonize and converge our country’s poverty reduction programs, according to Sec. Santos.
The National Anti-Poverty Commission has been working closely with the 14 basic sectors and the government sector in formulating the National Anti-Poverty Action Agenda (N3A), which serves as the country’s strategic roadmap to alleviate poverty. Additionally, the National Poverty Reduction Plan, which forms part of the N3A, consists of all the declared and enrolled anti-poverty programs of national government agencies, focusing on the five fundamental rights enshrined in the Magna Carta of the Poor.
I am confident that our government agencies, local government units, basic sectors, and development partners will address this challenge head-on as we work collectively to uplift the lives of our people. I am also hopeful that we will not lose sight of our targets as we implement the various development blueprints for poverty eradication, Santos added.
Once the official estimates of the Philippine Statistics Authority report are released this year, we’ll gain a better and more comprehensive understanding of the poverty situation in the country. With all the flagship programs of the Marcos administration now in place,
I believe we remain on track toward a prosperous and peaceful Bagong Pilipinas, NAPC concluded.
