Bureau of Immigration (BI) intelligence officers on Monday arrested a Russian DJ at a club in a Pasay City mall for undesirability.
BI Intelligence Division Chief Fortunato ‘Jun’ Manahan, Jr. reported that the Russian man, identified as Andrei Umanskii, 36, was apprehended following an order from the BI’s Board of Commissioners for his expulsion from the country.
He was ordered deported in 2023 after the BI’s board of commissioners found him to be overstaying for more than 3 years.
Umanskii has previously made headlines on two separate occasions in Palawan for his involvement in altercations. In 2020, he was arrested in El Nido for resisting and disobeying persons in authority after local officials reported that he was drunk and violent in their barangay. Additionally, in 2022, he was cited in a news report for assaulting a tricycle driver in Puerto Princesa.
BI Commissioner Norman Tansingco emphasized the agency’s stance on such behavior, stating, “The Bureau of Immigration does not welcome foreigners who abuse the country’s hospitality. We are committed to maintaining peace and order, and we will take necessary actions against those who violate our laws.”
Commissioner Tansingco also issued a warning to all foreign nationals, urging them to respect and follow the laws of the Philippines. “Foreign nationals should be mindful of their behavior and adhere to our regulations. We will not tolerate any actions that disrupt the peace and safety of our communities,” he added.
Manahan said Umanskii will be temporarily held in the BI’s facility inside Camp Bagong Diwa before his eventual deportation. #
