CAMP SIONGCO, Maguindanao – Security forces from the Joint Task Forces Central (JTFC) foiled another possible roadside improvised explosive device (IED) attack at Sitio Masalay, Barangay Matagobong, Ampatuan, Maguindanao on April 9, 2022.
Colonel Oriel Pangcog, 601st Infantry Brigade Commander said that elements from the 40th Infantry Battalion discovered the IED which was laid along the road in the said barangay. They immediately cordoned the area and allow members of the Explosives Ordnance Disposal Team (EODT) to render safety procedure to the dispose the IED.
Recovered from the area is an 81mm High Explosive Anti-Personnel Mine, two 9 volts battery, one Emylo RP and one electric blasting cap.
This kind of explosive if not properly disposed could destroy properties and cause the loss of innocent lives, Major General Juvymax Uy, Joint Task Force Central and 6ID Commander said.
He further urged the populace to immediately report to government authorities any questionable and unattended objects and to be extra vigilant to their surroundings.
