PINALITAN ni Pangulong Ferdinand Bongbong Marcos, Jr. si dating Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana bilang chairman ng Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA).
Sa ibinahaging report ng BCDA, itinalagang kapalit ni Retired DND Secretary Lorenzana si retired general Thompson Lantion bilang bagong chairman ng BCDA. Agad na nagpasalamat si Lantion sa tiwalang ipinagkaloob ng Pangulo na nag-atas na ayusin nito ang korporasyon sa ilalim ng BCDA.
“It’s a new challenge but for the job, it will be an opportunity to increase my knowledge, incorporate issues like that because this is investment eh,” pahayag ni Lantion, nang opisyal na itong italaga sa bagong posisyon.
Si Thom Lantion ay nagsilbing secretary-general ng Partido Federal ng Pilipinas at nagsilbi rin itong chairman ng Land Transportation Office (LTO) ng administrasyon ni dating Pangulong Arroyo.
Samantala, sinabi naman ni Lorenzana na bumaba siya sa pwesto para tumutok na sa kanyang pribadong buhay pero tutulong pa rin aniya siya sa pamahalaan sa anumang paraang makakaya niya.
Nagpasalamat naman si Lorenzana kay Pangulong Marcos sa tiwalang ipinagkaloob sa kanya at kumpiyansa umano ito na magagampanan ni Lantion ang kanyang tungkulin.
Inihayag ni Lorenzana na mayroong panukala na ang revenue contributions ng BCDA ay ibibigay sa ‘retirees at pensioners’ ng Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) sa halip na ilaan ito sa AFP Modernization Project.
“I am honored to be given the opportunity to lead this vital agency and to contribute to the AFP modernization efforts to the best of my official and personal capacity,” ani Lorenzana.
“I am also immensely grateful for the unwavering dedication, hard work, and support of the BCDA Board of Directors, the Management, and the entire staff throughout my tenure,” dagdag nito.
Inihayag ni Lantion na nanumpa na siya para sa kanyang bagong tungkulin sa harap mismo ni Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin subalit hindi pa niya alam kung sino ang hahalili sa iniwang puwesto.
Bilang PFP secretary general, sinabi ni Lantion na hindi pa napag-uusapan ang bagay na ito.
“Of course, we have to reorganize the political party and I have to relinquish and declare the position of secretary general vacant. We will reorganize the party this September 16,” ani Lantion.
