A radio reporter alleged that members of the transport group Manibela punched him while he was covering the group’s protest action in front of the Land Transportation Franchise and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) office in Quezon City.
Reporter Val Gonzales of DZRH claimed he was reporting about the 30-minute traffic caused by the protest action since Manibela members blocked the road in front of the LTFRB office.
The report was heard by some members who got angry and began surrounding him, until he was plucked out from the angry crowd by his companion, a fellow DZRH employee, along with other media members.
The said drivers are conducting a three-day transport strike to protest the consolidation program of the government.
The incident was condemned by various media organizations.
