MULING nalagasan ng armadong galamay ang Communist Party of the Philippine ng mapatay ng mga tauhan ng AFP Visayas Command (VISCOM) ang apat na rebeldeng New People’s Army sa naganap na enkuwentro sa Negros Island.
Ayon kay Lieutenant General Robert C Dauz, Commander ng VISCOM malaking pagkapilay ang dinanas ng nalalabing NPA sa Negros Island bunsod ng mga inilunsad na internal security operations sa Negros Island nitong nakalipas na lingo.
Nitong Huwebes apat na CPP-NPA rebels ang napaslang ng mga tauhan ng 94th Infantry Battalion nang makasagupa nila ang 14na communist terrorist sa ilalim ng Central Negros Front 2 ng Komiteng Rehiyon – Negros, Cebu, Bohol, Siquijor (KR NCBS) sa Sitio Amilis, Barangay Bi-ao, Binalbagan, Negros Occidental.
Na recover sa encounter site ang tatlong M-16 rifles; tig-isang M14 rifle, AK47 assault rifle, 40mm grenade launcher at cal. .45 pistol, gayundin ng mga bala at ibat- ibang war materials, personal belongings at subversive documents.
Sa datos ng VISCOM mula July 1 hanggang 7, nasa 25 communist NPA terrorists ang kanilang na-neutralize kabilang ang isang NPA na napatay ng mga tauhan ng 11th Infantry Battalion sa Barangay Talalak, Sta. Catalina, Negros Oriental kung saan 19 sa kanila ay napilitang sumuko sa 94th Infantry Battalion sa Barangay Tambo, Ayungon, Negros Oriental habang isa naman ang nahuli nang makasagupa nila ang 79th Infantry Battalion ng Philippine Army sa Sitio Banwa Minatay, Brgy Marcelo, Calatrava, Negros Occidental,
Bukod dito, 11 firearms ang na-recover ng military kasama ng ibat -ibang war materials and subversive documents.
“Innocent lives have fallen victim to the false promises and deception of the communist terrorists. This motivates your Servant in the Visayas to push on with our efforts, continue the fight, and end the local communist armed conflict in the island,” ani Lt. Gen Dauz.
“As Servant in the Visayas, we despise the idea of bloodshed and we do not want to see another fellow Filipino dying for the sake of false ideology. Thus, we urge the few remaining members of the communist NPA terrorists to follow the lead of your former comrades who are now living a peaceful and comfortable lives with their families as beneficiaries of the Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program (ECLIP), lay down your arms, abandon your armed struggle and return to the folds of the law while you still can,” dagdag pa nito.
