AFP continues HADR ops in Karding-hit areas

Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Response (HADR) operations by various units of the Armed Forces of the Philippines continue in areas hit by Super Typhoon Karding.

Earlier today, September 27, relief operations were conducted by the 202nd Infantry Brigade to affected families in an evacuation center in Real, Quezon. 1st Infantry Battalion together with the Philippine Coast Guard and other Volunteers loaded more than 1000 boxes of relief goods from DSWD and 900 bottles of drinking water and 100 boxes of sardines from GMA Kapuso Foundation at the Polillo Port in Polillo, Quezon for distribution to affected residents.

Moreover, air assets of the Aviation Regiment, Philippine Army, and the Philippine Air Force were deployed for rapid damage assessment and needs analysis (RDANA) on September 26 in Northern and Southern Luzon, specifically in Nueva Ecija, Bulacan, and Quezon Provinces. RDANA will help the government provide better interventions and assistance to the affected populace.

Philippine Air Force personnel of Tactical Operations Wing Southern Luzon also helped in repacking relief goods at the operations center of the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office (PDRRMO) in Quezon. A total of 16,000 food packs were readied last night for transport.

Troops of the 91st Infantry Battalion in San Luis, Aurora, the 70th Infantry Battalion in Bulacan, and the 31st Mechanized Company in Tarlac also helped clear debris along the roads in their respective areas of operation.

The AFP continues to coordinate with the Office of Civil Defense and other national and local government agencies to ensure the prompt and efficient deployment of military assets in the government’s humanitarian and disaster response efforts. (VICTOR BALDEMOR)
