ITO ang mariing tugon kahapon ni Armed Forces chief of Staff General Romeo Brawner, kasunod ng pagpapakalat ng panawagan ni Davao del Norte 1st District Rep. Pantaleon Alvarez noong Linggo na talikuran ng Sandatahang Lakas si Pangulong Ferdinand Bongbong Marcos upang tumahik at mapatatag ang kalagayan ng pilipinas.
Ayon ay General Brawner, hindi ito ang unang pagkakataon na nanawagan sila ng ‘withdrawal of support’ ng AFP kay Pangulong Marcos.
“ …but our answer is always the same. That the AFP remains to be a professional organization. Very clear po yung mandate natin, we will protect the Constitution and we will follow the duly constituted authorities,” aniya.
“ In other words, we will follow the chain of command and the president is our commander in chief. Whoever the president is its very clear that we will follow the chain of command, susundan namin ang mga utos ng ating commander in chief who is also our president and klarong klaro yun sa lahat ng mga ssundalo,” dagdag ng heneral.
Ayon pa kay Col. Francel Margareth Padilla, AFP spokesperson, umaasa po ang ating mga kababayan na mananatili ang hukbong sandatahan na nakatuon sa sa pangangalaga sa soberanya at territorial integrity ng bansa anuman ang political affiliations or individuals na siyang nasa kapangyarihan
“Our duty is to protect the Filipino people and uphold the rule of law, ensuring that peace and development will prevail throughout the nation. We will continue to fulfill these responsibilities with integrity, impartiality and utmost dedication,”pahayag pa ni Col Padilla.
Magugunitang isinusulong ng grupo ni Alvarez sa mga taga-Mindanao na humiwalay sa Republika ng Pilipinas, isang panukalang malawakang ibinasura ng mga government officials .
“Pag nag-withdraw po kayo ng suporta sa kanya, wala na siyang magagawa kundi bababa sa pwesto niya,”ani Alvarez, na naging House Speaker noong Duterte administration.
