Camp BGen Simeon A Ola, Legazpi City—-Police Regional Office 5 nets a total of 54 grams of “shabu” with a total DDB value of PhP367,200.00 during the buy-bust operation conducted on September 21, 2022 at Brgy. Constantino, Virac, Catanduanes.
The operation was led by the Regional Police Drug Enforcement Unit together with Virac MPS, Regional Intelligence Unit and Provincial Intelligence Unit at about 7:05 in the evening which stemmed the apprehension of one Rommel Sanchez, 35 years old, single, and a resident of the said place. He is also part of the Sorreda criminal gang who is involved on several robbery, theft, gun running and illegal drug trade incidents in the province.
Seized drug items confiscated from his possession and control were packed in seven (7) pieces of heat-sealed sachets.
During the arrest of the suspect he was informed of the nature of his arrest as well as his constitutional rights prior being detained at Virac MPS.
A case for violation of RA 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drug Act of 2002 will be filed against the suspect.

Aside from the anti-drug operations being launched by the unit, it has also endeavored on programs such as the Anti-Illegal Drugs Operations through Reinforcement and Education (ADORE), the final phase of the Oplan Double Barrel anti-drug strategy which is anchored on a holistic approach highlighted by reinforcement and education-based strategy.
This is in partnership with PDEA and local government units and in close coordination with other law enforcement agencies, national government agencies, non-governmental organizations, and other stakeholders utilizing the 8Es implementation track of the infinity loop of the double-barrel to eradicate proliferation of illegal drugs in the community.
