The leadership of the Philippine National Police believes that there are other police officers involved or responsible behind the almost one ton of shabu confiscated in Tondo Manila.
That is why Philippine National Police (PNP) Chief Police Gen. Rodolfo Azurin Jr., the deeper investigation into the arrested bigtime drug personality Police Master Sergeant Rodolfo Mayo to determine if there are other active policemen involved in the illegal drug trend.
The PNP leadership hopes that PMSgt. Mayo who is an active member of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Group or PDEG was caught in a drug buy bust operation along Quezon Boulevard in Quiapo, Manila along with his other colleagues.
It will be recalled that the said policeman caught more than P13-M worth of shabu.
According to Azurin, he hopes Mayo will cooperate and promises not to tell anyone how far their investigation will go.
It will be recalled that what is considered to be the largest amount of Shabu, which is estimated to be about one ton, was caught in the anti drug operation conducted in the city of Manila this past week.
According to Interior and Local Government Secretary Atty Benhur Abalos and Philippine National Police chief General Azurin, it can be said that this is the largest catch of the police which reaches an estimated P6.7 billion worth of Shabu obtained from a high value target.
“This afternoon will be historic in our country. This is probably the biggest drug haul in the history of the Philippines… Almost a ton of drugs (or) 990 kilograms of shabu, at about P6.7 billion pesos,” said Interior Secretary Benhur Abalos in the press conference held at Camp Crame, Quezon City which was also attended by Manila Mayor Honey Lacuna.
