A FLORIDA-based Filipina identified as Anne Stanton shared on Facebook last July 18 an experience complaining about their missing luggage and damaged items the moment they arrived in the country. The post has garnered 10,300 reactions, 74 comments and 9,700 shares, so far.
The post said, in toto: “Our business and pleasure trip to Philippines was not too welcoming upon arrival at the airport. We supposed to surprise our family too but to our dismay we got surprised instead.
The 28hrs trip turned into 35hrs and had some mixed feelings as we landed at the airport in Manila and waited for our luggages. We had 9 luggages checked in from Florida airport but none arrived in Manila International Airport. We’ve waited until everybody claimed theirs thinking our luggages were just delayed and mixed up in the other claim area but we have tried to reach anyone the police in manila airport, the Qatar airways customer representatives and the American airlines customer service reps but no one can locate our 9 luggages.
My husband decided to speak to the general manager and somehow was just asked to file a claim for luggages missing and told us to just wait until they will locate it. So we went to check in at our hotel in Manila since we were so very exhausted from the long trip. We had none personal items with us when we got into the hotel. We had to go straight to the hotel with no luggages with nothing at all to use. The next day we had to go to Mall of Asia to buy some personal items and stuff to use for myself,my husband and my son.
Reminders to all travelers out there please don’t ever listen to these airline crews asking you to checkin too your handcarry bags because you don’t know what happens ahead! Until now, still waiting for missing luggage??.Qatar Airways and American airlines claimed they had miscommunications which we found it so hard to believe because each airline knows what to do for sure when there’s a short connecting flight happens.2 days after staying in Manila hotel,Qatar Airways finally gave us a good news but another dilemma happened, they finally located our 8 bags but the other one was still missing,on top of that the worst part was our bags were obviously opened and were definitely checked.Plus our brand new bags had broken wheels returned to us,the TSA locks were opened and changed. The worst part is the missing bag which until now cannot be found has the most expensive items inside of it costing us money around $5-$7k intended as (Pasalubong)gifts and presents for my family and relatives.
To all travelers out there, please pay attention to your luggages to secure them properly, like putting some wraps all over it to keep it secure. The photos here are the actual pictures of our luggages 2days after the airline manager called us that they have located these but as of now we still have 1 missing bag.We are still thankful to our heavenly father that despite what happened we are just fine.Hoping and praying American airlines or Qatar airways can still return the other missing bag.”
(Peoples Online Tonight tried but failed to get the comment of the airlines concerned.)
