Changi, Singapore – The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP), represented by Chief-of-Staff Atty. Danjun Lucas and Admin Chief Ms. Nicole Ramos, along with DOTr Secretary Art Tugade and DOTr Usec. Giovanni Lopez joined around 300 transportation and aviation dignitaries from 45 countries in this year’s inaugural Changi Aviation Summit (CAS) from 17-18 May 2022 at the Sands Expo and Convention Centre in Singapore.
Hosted by Singapore’s Transport Ministry and Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS), the summit was themed “Readying for Take-off: A Brighter and Cleaner Tomorrow.”
CAAP spokesman Eric Apolonio said the Changi Aviation Summit (CAS) is a high-level conference that brings together thought leaders and key decision makers in the global aviation industry to exchange views on key issues, such as recovery of the aviation sector from the COVID-19 pandemic, aviation sustainability, and the environment.
Meanwhile, the ICAO-Singapore DGCA Programme on Aviation Recovery held on 18-19 May 2022 served as a platform for DGs to share experiences and dialogue on common challenges and opportunities for collaboration among States for the safe and efficient recovery of civil aviation and to build resilience for future pandemics.
International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) council president Salvatore Sciacchitano, International Air Transport Association (IATA) director general Willie Walsh, and Airports Council International director general Luis Felipe de Oliveira gave their keynote speeches during the event.
Apoloonio said the participants of the summit include ministers, civil aviation regulators, chief executives of airlines and other captains of the civil aviation industry. (Baby Cuevas)
