PHILIPPINE NAVY RESCUE 10 WOULD-BE TRAFFICKING-IN-PERSONS IN ZAMBOANGA CITY

Philippine Navy operatives with other government authorities successfully rescued ten (10) individuals alleged to be victims of human trafficking at Petron Wharf, Brgy Baliwasan, Zamboanga City just the other day.

Report reaching the office of Navy Flag Officer in Command (FOIC) Vice Admiral Toribio Adaci Jr., disclose that Naval Forces Western Mindanao (NFWM), in collaboration with various law enforcement agencies lunched the successful operation.

Through the course of the investigations, it was uncovered that the rescued individuals were aware of the conditions of their supposed undocumented employment.


Likewise, it was revealed that a certain person known as “Joy” from Titay, Zamboanga Sibugay invited them to work in Malaysia because of her connections and linkages.

Further, one of the rescued individuals disclosed that he previously worked in Malaysia, having paid Php 4,000.00, under the false assumption that his travel arrangements were legitimate.

Following the successful rescue operation, conducted together with the Women and Children Protection Center – Mindanao Field Unit (WCPC-MFU), Department of Social Welfare and Development IX (DSWD IX), City Social Welfare, Development Office- Zamboanga City (CSWDO-ZC) and Regional Inter-agency Committee on Anti-Trafficking 9 (RIACAT9), the ten (10) individuals were transferred to the WCPC-MFU, where they were assisted by personnel from DSWD-IX, CSWD-ZC, and RIACAT9, for further interview, documentation, and proper counseling and stress debriefing.
