November 2, 2023, Castilla, Sorsogon – BRP Federico Martir (PC 385), one of Naval Forces Southern Luzon Operationally Controlled Vessel, spotted smoke coming from MV KEN, a private Cargo vessel, at around 11 am. MV Ken was anchored at the vicinity waters of Castilla Port, Castilla, Sorsogon.
PC 385 immediately proceeded towards MV Ken while conducting lateral coordination with the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) and Bureau of Fire Protection. PC 385 accommodated AGS 700 and PCG Castilla Personnel onboard the vessel for augmentation.
Upon arrival, the firefighting team started combating the fire by means of fire bilge pump.
The successful rescue and assistance mission to the M/V Ken was made possible through the combined efforts, professionalism, and dedication of joint rescue and assistance operations of the Philippine Navy, Philippine Coastguard, Bureau of Fire and Protection, Philippine Ports Authority and Philippine National Police. It was a testament to the commitment to the safety of all those who are in need.
