Philippine Army troops from the 18th Scout Ranger Company, together with their U.S. counterparts, successfully executed a joint air assault training exercise at the Cagayan North International Airport as part of Exercise SALAKNIB Phase 2.
The drill focused on enhancing joint operational capabilities and rapid airfield security response. Utilizing CH-47 and black hawk helicopters, both forces conducted mission planning, detailed rehearsals, and airfield security to the Calayan Airstrip. The operation tested real-time coordination, swift troop deployment, and airfield security protocols, culminating in a successful and seamless security exercise.
The training underscores the Philippine Army’s ongoing efforts to strengthen international defense partnerships and improve its capacity to respond to complex security challenges. It is aligned with the Army’s transformation toward a “Matatag na Hukbong Katihan, Sandigan ng Bagong Pilipinas”—a resilient and reliable land force that supports a stronger and more secure nation.
