The Philippine Army hosted the Sunrise Ceremony to commence the 2025 Philippine Veterans’ Week and the Araw ng Kagitingan at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, Libingan ng mga Bayani, Taguig City.

Army Commanding General Lt. Gen. Roy M. Galido, who served as the Guest of Honor and Speaker, highlighted the importance of remembering and honoring the sacrifices of Filipino veterans and passing on their legacy to future generations.

“To the present and younger generation, I call on you to ensure that their sacrifices are never forgotten. The responsibility of safeguarding these intangible treasures, now rest upon our shoulders. Let us honor their legacy by honoring the values they fought to preserve. Let us make [the veterans] proud by nurturing a new generation of heroes, brave, resilient and loyal to the nation and our people”, Lt. Gen. Galido remarked.

The 2025 Veterans’ Week, which will be highlighted by the 83rd Araw ng Kagitingan (Day of Valor) commemoration on April 9, is anchored on the theme “Kabayanihan ng Beterano: Sandigan ng Kaunlaran ng Bagong Pilipinas.” Among the key activities lined up for the week are the time-honored Sunrise Ceremony, which is held at the crack of dawn to symbolize the coming of new hope for the motherland, and the Sunset Ceremony, which is held at dusk during the last day of the week-long observance.
