Philippine Army Launches 128th Founding Anniversary, Large-Scale Exercise

The Philippine Army commenced its 128th founding anniversary anchored on the theme “Matatag na Sandigan ng Bagong Pilipinas during Army Chief Lt. Gen. Roy M. Galido’s gathering with the media at the Philippine Army Officers’ Clubhouse, Fort Bonifacio, Taguig City.

“Our theme ‘Matatag na Sandigan ng Bagong Pilipinas’ is a powerful declaration of our enduring commitment to be a steadfast pillar of support for a new and stronger Philippines,” Lt. Gen. Galido said in his remarks.

The Philippine Army will conduct the second iteration of its Army-wide unilateral exercise dubbed as “Exercise Katihan” which is the overall conduct of the 128th PA Founding Anniversary activities from 17 February to 22 March 2025. The main highlight would be the Combined Arms Training Exercise (CATEX) “Katihan” 02-25 from 03- 22 March 2025 in Fort Magsaysay, Nueva Ecija and the Anniversary program proper on 22 March to be held at the Headquarters Philippine Army, Fort Bonifacio, Taguig City with the His Excellency, President Ferdinand Romualdez Marcos, Jr. as the Guest of Honor and Speaker.


The Army Chief paid tribute to the organization’s rich history and legacy and its vital role as the backbone of the country’s national defense. “Beyond that, it is about the men and women entrusted with our country’s defense. It is about the bravery of soldiers who serve selflessly, the dedication of our officers who lead with integrity, and the resilience of our entire workforce, both military and civilian,” he remarked.

Army anniversary activities will highlight the organization’s focus on ensuring the health and welfare of soldiers, civilian human resources, and their dependents; enhancing strategic thinking among Army senior leaders; empowering and developing NCOs; visiting CAA units; enhancing ROTC and reserve forces and their crucial role in territorial defense; advancing the Army’s cybersecurity thrusts; and conducting capability demonstrations.
