The Philippine Army 9th Infantry “Spear” Division deployed humanitarian assistance and disaster response (HADR) teams amid the onslaught of Tropical Storm “Enteng” in the Bicol Region, one of the hardest- hit areas.
Through the readiness and coordinated efforts with the Office of Civil Defense (OCD) and the Provincial and Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Councils (PDRRMC and MDRRMC), the damage and disruption caused by the storm were significantly minimized.
As of yesterday, the 9ID’s HADR teams remain committed to support recovery efforts and ensure the well-being of the affected communities.
Meanwhile, a total of 91 Army personnel severely affected by Typhoon “Carina” received assistance worth P1.276 million in a ceremonial handover led by Army Chief Lt. Gen Roy M. Galido at the Headquarters Philippine Army, Fort Bonifacio, Taguig City yesterday September 2, 2024.
Galido has emphasized that assistance is part of sustaining the morale and welfare of personnel.
“Our soldiers’ well-being is the core strength of our force,” the Army Chief emphasized in his command guidance.
It can be recalled that Typhoon “Carina”, the third tropical storm to hit the country this year, caused massive flooding in Metro Manila and surrounding provinces on July 2024.
