The Cope Thunder-PH 23-1 joint training exercise between the Philippine Air Force (PAF) and the United States Air Force (USAF) reached its successful conclusion with a Closing Ceremony held at Clark Air Base in Mabalacat City, Pampanga.
The ceremony brought together members of the Philippine Air Force’s 5th Fighter Wing and the United States Air Force’s 14th Fighter Squadron from the 35th Fighter Wing, Pacific Air Force.
The 12-day Cope Thunder 23-1 joint training was characterized by rigorous drills and exercises that showcased the robust partnership between the two Air Forces.
The PAF’s FA-50 pilots and USAF’s F16 pilots held a series of joint flight training exercises. Likewise, Subject Matter Expert Exchanges (SMEEs) on Maintenance and Security Forces Training were carried out.
Following the completion of Cope Thunder 23-1, the next iteration is projected to be bigger involving more personnel and air assets from both Air Forces.
Cope Thunder 23-2, has been scheduled to take place from July 2 to 12, 2023, with an objective of simulating comprehensive large force deployment of military personnel and equipment, and to test air mobility and combat readiness in a realistic operational environment.
