PH NAVY CHIEF STRENGTHENS TIES WITH ROK NAVY IN VISIT

Philippine Navy Flag Officer In Command, Vice Admiral Toribio Adaci, Jr. visit Jinhae Naval Base, Republic of Korea.

According to Navy Spokesman CDR. Benjo Negranza, the visit aims to strengthen the relationship between the Philippine Navy and Republic of Korean Navy as both forces share common interests in upholding regional stability and international rules-based order at sea.


The PN Chief visits the Command Submarine Forces in Jinhae Naval Base, where he had a bilateral meeting with its Commander – RAdm Jeong Ho Kang. VAdm Adaci was given a tour of the Type-214 1,800-ton class submarine (ROKS Yun Bong-gil SS-077) and the Submarine Integrated Training Center. He met the Commander of Jinhae Naval Base, RAdm Tae Hoon Kim and Acting Superintendent ROK Naval Academy, RADM Su Youl Lee.

Cdr Negranza disclosed that while at Jinhae Naval Base, the PN FOIC inspected the Pohang Class Corvette (ROKS Andong), which is eyed to be transferred to the Philippines.

VAdm Adaci was officially received by Admiral Yang Yong-Mo, the Chief of Naval Operations of the ROK Navy.


The two Navy leaders shared their insights about maritime security in the Indo-Pacific Region. VAdm Adaci also thanked the ROK Navy for its support to the Philippine Navy by means of capacity building efforts.

Both leaders shared their desire to strengthen the relationship between PN and ROKN. They also committed to work together to promote a rules-based order at sea and adherence to international law.
