NAGSILBING panauhing pandangal si Pangulong Ferdinand Bongbong Marcos, Jr. bilang commander- in- chief sa ika 74th Birthday ng Philippine Marine Corps na ginanap sa Philippine International Convention Center (PICC) sa Pasay City.
“First of all, congratulations to the Philippines Marine Corps on your 74th birthday. Time and again, the Philippine Marine Corps or the PMC has stood at the forefront of our nation’s defense, protecting the lives of our people, promoting peace and development, and asserting our sovereignty. Your unwavering commitment to duty, whether on land or on sea, has been instrumental in shaping the security landscape that we continue to build on today,” pambating bungad ni pangulong Marcos.
Tampok sa nasabing kaganapan ang traditional cake- cutting ceremony at awarding of deserving personnel, marine units, civilian human resource at civilian stakeholders.
Samantala, ikinatuwa ng pamunuan ng PMC ang pagdalo ng Pangulo, lalo na ang naging pahayag nito na prayoridad ng kanilang commander- in -chief ang modernisasyon ng Philippine Marine Corps.
Sa naging talumpati ni Pangulong Marcos ay binigyang-diin nito ang kanyang commitment para sa isang “stronger and more comprehensive defense posture” sa pamamagitan ng investments sa modern infrastructure at pag-upgrade sa pasilidad.
Ang event ngayong taon ay may temang “74 Years of Standing Ready to Answer the Call: To Protect the Nation and Maintain to be the Most Ready Force of the Armed Forces of the Philippines”.
Kinilala rin ng Pangulo ang kamakailan lamang na pagsisikap ng mga marino sa humanitarian assistance at disaster response at maging sa tanggulan sa teritoryo at soberanya ng Pilipinas.
“Your unwavering commitment to duty—whether on land or on sea—has been instrumental in shaping the security landscape that we continue to build on today,” anang Chief Executive.
“Your contributions not only ensure our safety, but have also reinforced the very foundation of our shared future. What started as a volunteer group has grown into a capable force under the Philippine Navy, entrusted with a critical mission—to safeguard our maritime sovereignty, counter insurgency, and stabilize areas of conflict,” dagdag pa nito.
Sa kabilang dako ay hinikayat naman ng Pangulo ang mga miyembro ng PMC na panindigan ang “dedication and excellence” ng PMC at ipasa ang nasabing pagpapahalaga sa susunod na henerasyon ng PMC.
Tugon naman ni MGen Arturo G Rojas PN(M), Commandant ng Philippine Marine Corps: “Marines will ensure that our daily conduct reflects the trust placed in us by the Filipino people and by those marines who sacrificed everything to pass on the legacy to us. We are up to the task, and I as the commandant, will be with all marines every step of the way.”
