PAO chief, pinagpapaliwanag ng SC

By: Anthony Quindoy

No. 096, Series of 2023 (Office Order), may petsang Hulyo 11,2023.

Kasabay nito, inatasan ng SC ang PAO na striktong sundin ang Canon III, Section 22 ng Code of Professional Responsibility and Accountability (CPRA).

‘The said Office Order gave the Public Attorneys the “discretion and disposition” to comply with Canon III, Section 22 of the CPRA and advised the Public Attorneys to reconcile the said provision with Article 209 of the Revised Penal Code, which penalizes betrayal of trust and revelation of secrets by lawyers, to avoid any criminal responsibility and imprisonment, an insinuation that compliance with the CPRA will amount to the commission of such offenses”, ayon sa SC.

Ang naturang Office Order ay “viewed by the Court as a further act of disobedience and obstruction” at nakapagpababa umano sa administration of justice.
