PAL DID NOT CAUSE MLA-VANCOUVER FLIGHT CANCELLATION — VILLALUNA

Flag carrier Philippine Airlines (PAL) clarified a social media post alleging that a PAL aircraft was reassigned to the Presidential Charter flight for Davos, causing the cancellation of today’s Manila – Vancouver flight.

In a statement, PAL spokesperson Ma. Cielo Villaluna said that the Manila – Vancouver flight originally slated to depart Sunday, January 15, 2023 was canceled last Friday, January 13, 2023 due to an aircraft situation (tech issue).

Its assigned aircraft – B777 with registry RP-C7773 – is currently grounded for maintenance, she said, adding that affected passengers were given options based on the Passenger Bill of Rights and were booked on a replacement flight.

“PAL would like to clarify that the chartered flight for Davos was another B-777, with a different registry number. Charter arrangements for this aircraft were made weeks ago and DID NOT cause the Manila -Vancouver flight cancellation,” said Villaluna said. (JERRY S. TAN)
