Airline companies have announed measures to mitigate the possible effects on their operations of the announced strike of public transportation groups for one week starting on Monday, from March 6 to 11, 2023.
Philippine Airlines (PAL) spokesperson Ma. Cielo Villaluna said that the flag carrier is closely monitoring the planned transport strike in Metro Manila, saying such will potentially affect commuters using jeepneys, buses or other public transport vehicles in going to the airport terminals, so that passengers are advised to allow more time to reach the airport.
“Please adjust your plans to allocate extra travel time to reach the Manila airport on time to catch your flights, in case the strike may cause heavier traffic jams or limit your public transport options,” said Villaluna.
“While we do not anticipate any significant disruptions to our flight operations. We have contingency plans to mitigate potential disruptions and help keep flights operating on schedule. We will continue to monitor the situation and work closely with relevant authorities to ensure that there will be no impact on airline services,” Villaluna added.
According to Cebu Pacific (CEB) spokesperson Carmina Romero, they are monitoring the planned transport strike and advised its passengers to check in online and allot more time to reach the airport.
“Separately, we have put mitigating measures in place to minimize impact on our staff and crew. We will do our best to ensure that airline operations and flights will operate as scheduled,” Romero added.
AirAsia Philippines also advised guests to allot four to five hours travel time to ensure a hassle-free journey.
