Naniniwala ang Commission on Elections (Comelec) na magkakaroon ng impact sa paghahanda para sa 2025 midterm election kung ipu-postpone ang nakatakdang 2022 barangay at SK elections sa Disyembre.
Gayunman, sinabi ni Comelec spokesperson John Rex Laudiangco na nakahanda naman sumunod ang Comelec kung may maipapasang batas ang Kongreso para ma-postpone ang BSKE .
“Definitely, the postponement, coupled with a re-setting or re-scheduling of any priorly-scheduled electoral exercise, has a potential to impact preparations and activities of succeeding elections,” ayon kay Laudiangco.
“This impact may be more readily apparent on the early planning and preparations which the Commission intends to undertake for the conduct of the May 12, 2025 National and Local Elections,” dagdag ni Laudiangco.
Kaugnay nito,sinabi ni Comelec finance services director Martin Niedo, na ang P8 bilyon pondo sa BSKE ay nanatiling hindi pa nagagastos.
Tiniyak naman ni Laudiangco na hindi masasayang ang anumang kagamitan na bibilhin ng Comelec para sa BSKE dahil ang mga balota at forms ay maari pa rin naman magamit.
“None of the procured goods, including indelible inks, pens and ballot and others were not wasted and all put to use,” giit pa ni Laudiangco. (Jaymel Manuel)
