Ang patuloy na pagpapaantala sa pagdaraos ng impeachment trial laban kay Vice President Sara Duterte ay maituturing na pagsupil sa katotohanan, na isa aniyang ‘kasalanan.’
Ayon kay Lingayen, Dagupan Archbishop Socrates Villegas, na dating naging pangulo ng Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines (CBCP), ang bansa ay may karapatan sa katotohanan, na maaari lamang aniyang matukoy sa pamamagitan ng batas at ebidensiya.
“To delay the trial or even to abort it is to suppress the TRUTH. It is a sin. The opponent, the devil, is rightly called Prince of Lies,” ayon pa kay Villegas, sa isang pahayag. “To deprive the people of the full truth is a form of robbery. It is keeping something not yours. It is a sin,” aniya.
“When motivated by selfish ambition and the prioritization of personal desires, gratification and comfort, the delay of the process of pursuing the TRUTH is a sin. It smacks of negligence and laziness. Not to pursue the truth when you have the capacity to know it FORTHWITH is a grave sin of omission. It is morally unacceptable,” dagdag pa nito.
Nanindigan rin si Villegas na ang procrastination o pagpapaliban ay isang uri ng ng katamaran, na nagreresulta sa kapabayaan sa mga responsibilidad, tungkulin at oportunidad, na maaari aniyang ituring bilang ‘lack of diligence or commitment.’
“The nation deserves better than such officials,” dagdag pa nito.
Sa kasalukuyan ay ,arami na ang umaangal at nagagalit dahil sa patuloy na pagpapaliban ng Senado sa pagdaraos ng impeachment trial laban kay VP Sara.
Anila, alinsunod sa 1987 Constitution ay kailangang kaagad na isagawa ng Senado ang impeachment trial, sa sandaling ang Articles of Impeachment ay maipadala sa kanila.
Gayunman, hindi ito naisagawa dahil sa pagdaraos ng break ng Kongreso para sa halalan.
Nakatakda sanang basahin sa Senado ang naturang Articles of Impeachment noon pang Hunyo 2.
Gayunman, inilipat ito ni Senate President Francisco “Chiz” Escudero sa Hunyo 11, na huling sesyon ng 19th Congress bago ito tuluyang mag-adjourn.
