The Philippine Air Force (PAF) and the Philippine Army (PA) concluded the highly-anticipated PAF-PA Interoperability Exercise (IOX) 03-24. The five-day joint military exercise was held at the 5th Infantry Division, Camp Melchor F Dela Cruz in Upi, Gamu, Isabela and showcased both forces’ enhanced capabilities and commitment to seamless operational integration.
With over 1,000 participants from both the PAF and PA, the 3rd iteration of this exercise featured an array of complex training scenarios, including Command Post Exercises (CPX), Subject Matter Expert Exchanges (SMEE), and Field Training Exercises (FTX).
According to Army Commanding General LtGen. Roy Galido, these activities, designed to refine joint combat and tactical operations, underscored the Philippine military’s readiness for coordinated missions across multiple domains.
Maj. Gen. Gulliver Señires, Commander of the 5th Infantry Division, presided over the closing ceremony as Guest of Honor.
In his remarks, MGEN Señires, lauded the troops for their dedication and professionalism throughout the exercise. He emphasized that the lessons learned and relationships built during IOX 03-24 will serve as a foundation for future joint operations, enhancing the armed forces’ ability to respond to evolving security challenges.
The closing event culminated in a high-impact capability demonstration, featuring elite maneuvers such as Military Free Fall, Fast Roping, Bundle Drops, Hoist/Medical Evacuations, and Mechanized Infantry Operations. These exercises highlighted the synergy between the Air Force and Army, providing a powerful display of interoperability in action.
This year’s IOX, hosted by the PAF, reinforces the ongoing commitment of the Philippine military to continuously enhance joint operational effectiveness and strategic readiness.
Meanwhile , PAF chief Lieutenant General Stephen P. Parreño said, this recent interoperability exercise also provided an opportunity to evaluate and improve our ability to conduct joint air and ground missions to ensure readiness in territorial defense operations.
