The Philippine Army Search and Rescue (SAR) team, composed of soldiers from the 525th Combat Engineer Battalion under the Combat Engineer Regiment, hours after they landed at the Nay Pyi Taw Military Air Base, Myanmar and commenced its inter-agency participation in earthquake-hit Myanmar.
The ten-man team arrived in Myanmar along with the members of the 505th Search and Rescue Group, Philippine Air Force, Bureau of Fire Protection, Metropolitan Manila Development Authority, Department of Health, and the Office of Civil Defense to support the search and rescue efforts and extend assistance to the affected communities after the 7.7 magnitude earthquake that struck the country.
The team integrated to perform specific designations along with other contingents. It also emphasized the adherence to specific security measures to mitigate the risks of petty crimes and the safety protocols to be observed in case of aftershocks.
The 525th Combat Engineer Battalion, the Philippine Army’s experienced search and rescue unit also played a pivotal role in the Inter-Agency Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Response in the recovery efforts during the onslaught of the massive earthquake that shook Turkiye last February 2025.
