By: Jerry S. Tan

In a coordinated effort, the PNP Aviation Security Group (AVSEGROUP), in partnership with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) and other members of the NAIA Inter-Agency Drug Interdiction Task Group (IADITG), intercepted a shipment of illegal drugs at the Central Mail Exchange Center (CMEC), NAIA Complex on October 11, 2024.

Four suspicious parcels falsely declared as personal items such as “massage oil” and “coffee,” were flagged during routine X-ray screening which was confirmed by a K-9 inspection. Upon further examination, authorities uncovered thousands of ecstasy tablets, liquid Gamma-Hydroxybutyrate (GHB), marijuana oil and marijuana-infused jelly candies, with an estimated street value of P7,590,500.

The seized illegal drugs were meticulously documented and turned over to PDEA for further analysis and legal action.

PBGEN Christopher N Abrahano, Director of PNP AVSEGROUP, praised the collaborative effort, stating, “Through our vigilance, we continue to strengthen security and enhance the fight against drug smuggling.”
