KATUWANG ang Armed Forces of the Philippine at Philippine National Police ay nasabat ng mga tauhan ng Bureau of Customs (BOC) Port of Davao ang nasa 4250 reams ng puslit na sigarilyo na may halagang 2.45 million pesos at isang Hyundai Porter Freezer Van sa isinagawang checkpoint operation.
Ang mga nasabing seized items ay nasabat sa nakalatag na checkpoint sa pagitan ng PNP Eden Station 19 at Philippine Army – Task Force Davao sa Sirawan, Toril, Davao City.
Agad na ipinasa ng Philippine Army sa kustodiya ng BOC ang mga nasamsam, habang ang mga nadakip na suspek ay ibinigay sa pangangalaga ng PNP, Region Office 11.
Samantala, inihahanda naman ng kawanihan ng Aduana ang ihahaing kaso laban sa mga suspects dahil sa smuggling of illicit cigarettes (Section 1138 of the CMTA).
Ito ay makaraang maglabas ng Warrant of Seizure and Detention (WSD) si BOC Davao District Collector Atty Erastus Sandino B. Austria para sa mga smuggled items for violating Section 1113 in relation to Secti.on 117 and Section 400 of the Republic Act No. 10863 also known as the Customs Modernization and Tariff Act (CMTA).
“The BOC-Davao would continue its campaign against smuggling imported goods into the country in line with Customs Commissioner Yogi Filemon Ruiz’s priority programs to bring to international standards BOC’s primary mandate of revenue collection, border protection, and trade facilitation,” ani Atty, Austria.
