P3.8-M DRUGS FOUND AT CMEC

The Bureau of Customs at the Central Mail Exchange Center (CMEC) of the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) found illegal drugs amounting to P3,863.000 in four different abandoned/unclaimed parcels from the United States.

A parcel from Lancaster PA shipped by a certain Cole Johnson consigned to a person from Paranaque City that arrived at CMEC last December 31, 2021 and was examined last January 3, 2022 contains 47 cartridges with1000 mg of cannabis oil, 14 pieces of medicated nerds rope declared as candy boxes.

The 2nd parcel from Arcadia, California that arrived last May 26, 2022 and was examined last May 31, 2022 declared as Escape Room Game shipped by Claire Vance and consigned to a resident of Malate in Manila containing 120 pieces cartridges with1000 mg cannabis oil.


The 3rd parcel that arrived last May 30, 2022 and was examined May 31,2022 from South Pasadena, California shipped by John Baker consigned to a resident of Paco, Manila containing 150 pieces of cartridges of cannabis oil declared as Blanc Puzzle.

The 4th parcel that arrived last October 28, 2022 and was examined same day from France shipped by a certain Juan Rellores Villares consigned to a resident of Mangahan, Pasig, City found 2,040 pieces of ecstasy tablets in a parcel declared as foot massage device valued at P3,468.000.


The NAIA-Inter-Agency Drug Interdiction Task Group (NAIA-IADITG) and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) said that further investigation is underway to apprehend the people behind the illicit trade and they will be charged in violation of Republic Act No. 916, the Comprehensive Dangerous Act of 2002 and RA 10863 or known Customs Modernization and Tariff Act (CMTA).
