Itinatayang aabot sa P20 milyon halaga ng puslit na sibuyas na nagmula sa bansang China ang nasabat ng mga tauhan ng Bureau of Customs (BOC) sa isinagawang operasyon sa Mindanao Container Terminal Port sa Misamis Oriental .
Ayon sa BOC, ang dalawang container na naglalaman ng 50,000 kilo ng mga sibuyas kung saan idineklara itong mga tinapay at iba’t ibang klase ng pastries mula China ay dumating sa Cagayan de Oro City nitong Disyembre 6, 2022.
“Onions are being sold at higher prices in our local markets. This should not have been a predicament for an agricultural country like us. The more empowered these people feel about smuggling these products, the more our economy will suffer. So, we cannot let that happen because the people will be the most affected,” ani Customs Commissioner Yogi Filemon Ruiz.
Sa ulat ni Customs Intelligence and Investigation Service (CIIS) director Jeoffrey Tacio kay BOC Comm Ruiz, nakatanggap sila ng intelligence information tungkol sa mga container na dadaan sa MCT port na naglalaman ng mga smuggled na sibuyas.
Dahil upang maglabas ng Pre-Lodgement Control Order si Port of Cagayan de Oro District Collector Alexandra Lumontad laban sa nasabing kargamento.
Kamakailan nasa P150- milyong halaga naman ng smuggled fake products ang nasabat ng mga operatiba ng Bureau of Customs (BOC) katuwang ang Cavite PNP at opisyal ng mga barangay makaraang salakayin ang malaking warehouse sa bahagi ng Brgy. Alapan II-A sa Imus City, Cavite.
Sa inaprubahang Letter of Authority (LOA) na nilagdaan ni Customs Commissioner Filemon Ruiz kung saan sa pakikipag-ugnayan sa pulisya at barangay officials ay sinalakay ng Customs Intelligence and Investigation Service-Manila International Container Port (CIIS-MICP) at ESST-QRT ang malaking bodega ng Hong Yun Real Estate Group, Inc. sa M. Salud Road sa nabanggit na lungsod.
Ayon kay Intelligence group Deputy Commissioner retired Major Gen. Juvymax Uy, kabilang sa nadiskubreng smuggled fake products ay mga ready-to-wear garments na may brands na Dickies, Mossimo, Bench, Levi’s, Puma, Fila, Mickey Mouse, Hello Kitty at iba pang appliances at general merchandise.
“Following the proper process is critical in every operation of the BOC. Remember that big-time organizations behind these are used to circumvent the laws, whether here or elsewhere. We have always been careful with making sure cases like these won’t be dismissed because of the lack of due process,” ani MGen Uy. (Victor Baldemor Ruiz)
