Several old and corroded bomb items were recovered during excavation work at the Juliet Extension Taxiway inside the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Complex on April 26, 2026.

Personnel from NAIA Police Station 2 and the PNP Aviation Security Group responded after a report from airport authorities about bomb like objects found by a backhoe operator during an ongoing construction project.

Aviation Security Explosive Ordnance Disposal personnel conducted a safety assessment and safely recovered ten pieces of 50 pound inert General Purpose bombs and eighteen pieces of 25 pound inert General Purpose bombs.

This was not the first discovery in the area, as a similar recovery operation was also conducted on April 22, 2026, after old military items were found during excavation activities within the same airport complex.

The recovered items were brought to AVSEGROUP Headquarters in Pasay City for safekeeping and proper handling.

According to AVSEGROUP head PBGen. Dionisio Badongen Bartolome Jr., “AVSEGROUP is always alert and ready to respond to any situation to ensure the safety of workers, passengers and the airport community.”
