Four Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) in Taiwan who perished from a factory fire will receive more cash benefits from Taiwan Employer’s Group Insurance and the factory where they worked for the past years.
Recruitment and Migration consultant Manny Geslani said Mr Jackson Gan, former PILAMT President whose agency deployed the three workers while the other worker was deployed by a different local agency, is preparing an additional two million (NT) dollars.
One of the workers identified as Maricris Fernando who arrived in Taiwan a day before the fire was her first day of working for Lien as she was rescued but later died due her injuries.
The OFWs were identified as Renato Larua from Cavite; Nancy Revilla from Marinduque; Aroma Miranda from Tarlac; and Maricris Fernando from La Union. They will receive One Million NT dollars each from Lien Hwa Food Factory Corporation or the equivalent of One Million Eight Hundred Thousand Pesos.
Aside from the employers, benefits from the OWWA burial and death benefits amounting to P 220,000 thousand pesos and the mandatory insurance provided by the recruitment agency worth $ 15,000 thousand dollars USD accident insurance to be paid by the insurance provider.
Manila Economic and Cultural Office (MECO) Chairman Silvestre Bello III also said the Taiwanese government will provide THE families of those who died with 100,000 new Taiwan dollars (around P180,910).
