MULING nanawagan si National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (NTF-ELCAC) Executive Director, Undersecretary Ernesto Torres, Jr., sa mga nalalabing kasapi ng Communist Party of the Philippine at armadong galamay nitong New People’s Army na abandonahin na ang ligaw na ipinaglalaban.
Umapela si USEC Torres sa mga nagtatagong CPP-NPA remnants kasunod ng naging madugong sagupaan sa pagitan ng mga rebeldeng NPA at mga mga sundalo sa Pantabangan, Nueva Ecija na ikinasawi ng 10 rebelde nitong nakalipas na linggo.
“We’ve to end this decades-long NPA terrorism, sustain the peace gains, and strengthen our Support to Barangay Development (SBDP). We’ve to continue capacitating all the NPA-free barangays by bringing in more sustainable development and livelihood projects to increase their income and raise the quality of their lives,” sabi pa ni Torres.
Ipinarating ng opisyal ang paanyaya sa mga rebelde na sa halip na makipaglaban ay tanggapin na ang programang amnestiya ni Pangulong Bongbong Marcos, Jr. upang maiwasan ang posibleng mga susunod pang engkwentro.
“We appeal to all the NPA remnants to avail the amnesty program of the President. There are mechanisms already in place anytime these terrorists want to return to mainstream society, rebuild their lives and their families, and live in peace. We’ve the Local Peace Engagement (LPE) and the Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program (ECLIP),” ani Torres.
Batay sa naging report ng Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), nong June 26 ay nakasagupa ng mga sundalo ng 84th Infantry Battalion Phil Army ang mga miyembro ng Komiteng Rehiyon Gitnang Luzon (KRGL).
Nagresulta ito sa ilang oras na bakbakan, pursuit at clearing operations.
Nang matapos ang clearing operation sa lugar, natagpuan ang katawan ng pitong sundalo sa pinangyarihan ng bakbakan habang tatlong iba pa ang sumunod na natunton sa direksyon kung saan tumakas ang mga rebelde.
“In due time, the armed component of the CPP will be eliminated. We have to put an end to this violent armed struggle. Habang ginagawa ang lahat ng ating AFP at PNP, nagsimula na rin tayong dalhin ang mga agarang serbisyo sa mga conflict-affected areas na NPA-free na through the SBDP,” dagdag pa ni Torres.
