In time for this year’s celebration of the National Children’s Month, the Northern Luzon Command (NOLCOM), through the 1st Civil Relations Group, Civil Relations Service, Armed Forces of the Philippines in collaboration with the Tarlac Medical Society, Philippine Pediatric Society, and Regional Emergency Assistance Communication Team (REACT) Phils held a Feeding Program and Gift Giving Activity at Sitio Ye Young, Sta Juliana, Capas Tarlac on Nov 30, 2022.
Around 300 Aeta children benefited from the feeding program and were given goods including multivitamins and deworming tablets. They enjoyed interacting with the soldiers as they participated in games and showed their talents in dancing and singing.
Chieftain Arturo Garcia expressed his appreciation for visiting their community, “Nakikita po ninyo ang kalagayan ng ating mga katutubo, kami po ay sabik sa mga tao at sa anumang tulong po na maibibigay ng gobyerno.”
The activity highlighted the importance of not only protecting Aeta communities from Communist Terrorist Group exploitation, but also connecting with them and letting them know they are not forgotten. (VICTOR BALDEMOR RUIZ)
