NNIC ADDRESSES WATER INTERRUPTION AT NAIA

By: Jerry S. Tan

A water service interruption is currently affecting Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 1 due to damage to a main water pipe.

The pipe sustained a one-meter crack following the resumption of water service after a scheduled maintenance at Maynilad’s Pasay plant, which lasted 17 hours from 12 midnight up to 5 p.m.of October 23 .

In response, the airport operator, New NAIA Infra Corp (NNIC), has deployed water tankers to ensure a steady supply to Terminal 1 while the damaged section of the pipe is being replaced.

“Our teams are working to replace the damaged pipe as quickly as possible. In the meantime, water tankers are providing water for restrooms and other essential areas. We apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate the public’s patience and understanding during this time,” NNIC manager Lito Alvarez said.

Technicians are on site preparing the area for the pipe replacement. Passengers are advised to cooperate with airport staff and conserve water during this time,” Alvarez added.
